Magis Activities Center

SWEAT. Smile. REPEAT. Take a tour of the Magis Activity Center, aka "The MAC," Rockhurst University's newest building on its Kansas City campus. RU basketball coach and MAC Director Josh Roberts guides you through the fitness center, where you can get into shape with cardio, exercise, workout and weight training equipment, an ab station, as well as studio spaces for fitness, yoga, aerobics and wellness classes. Hey, everyone. Welcome to the Magis Activity Center, or as many call it, the MAC. I'll be your tour guide, Joshua Roberts. Let me show you guys around.

[music playing]

How you doing, Rockhurst University? My name's Joshua Roberts. I'm your new director here at the MAC. This is my sixth year in the Rockhurst community. I am a former student athlete here, played college basketball for two years. I'm also currently an assistant men's basketball coach. This is my fourth year coaching.

The MAC has been up and running since October, 2019. The energy of this place has been amazing since day one. I'm going to give you guys a quick tour of the new spot to be on campus.

Welcome to the workout floor for the MAC. Let me show you guys around.

Hey, what's up, Ellie?

Make sure you guys swipe in and swipe out on your way in and out the MAC.

Where I'm standing right now is our Synergy 360 station, where we have multiple pull-up bars and also cable workouts. If you ever come to the gym and just don't know what workouts to do and walk around and see these barcodes, all you have to do is download our free app, which is QR reader, walk up and scan the barcode, and then you'll get the workout for the day.

Where I'm standing right now is the very popular TRX and ab station. Over here, we have medicine balls for ab work. We have power metric boxes, if you want to do some jump workouts. And over here, our TRX station, we have heavier medicine balls, and we have a free body weight TRX station.

Right here, I'm going to show you guys a quick workout I like to do. It's all body weight. You lean back all the way here and you just pull up your body weight.

This here is our aerobics room where students, if they want to get away from the noise of the main workout floor, can come in and do abs or any other type of workout. Also, during the week, we have yoga classes with live instructors Monday, Wednesdays, and Fridays at 5:00 PM and Tuesday, Thursdays, we have functional fitness classes at 12:15.

Also, if you ever come to the gym and just don't know what workout to do for the day, we have a virtual online class called Beachbody on Demand. And all you have to do is ask for the remote at the front desk, click on your class, Beachbody On Demand, and you see we have different programs. Click on them and there you go. It's your workout for today.
